Family!!
Just some pics of the family! It has been so nice to see everyone again and some for the first time!!

ENGLAND

ENGLAND
I arrived in london on the 07/10/06. It was raining and cold. Suprise suprise. My Uncle Colin, his wife Heike and his mate Eric were there to pick me up. Colin and I havn't seen each other in about 21 years so it was absolutely awesome to catch up over a big english breaky and a bottle of champers!! I spent a great week in London with them having a few laughs in the local pub "The Farriers" and heaps of nice dinners.
Colin & Heike.
I spent a day cruising around London and got completely lost. Was fun though. I stumbled across this guy protesting against the war. He had a thermos of tea! A true Englishman.
My first squirrel sighting.
A sculpture of Dali's long legged elephant.
Buckingham Palace

I caught up with my friend Marty. She has been living in London for about a year. We went to a swanky bar at Canary Wharf. Its where all the stockmarket, buisness types hang. After a pint or 2 we headed to an Aussie pub where I felt I fit in a bit better!!

F@#K TERRORISTS!

F@#K Terrorists!

I would just like to say that there is more good in this world than evil!

Gonna stand my ground,
Won't be turned around
and I'll keep this world from dragging me down.
Gonna stand my ground,
and I wont back down!

(Tom Petty) I think..

Ground Zero. The monument for the 2002 bombings.

Uluwatu

03/10/06 Uluwatu Temple

Some pics of the sunset at Uluwatu Hindu Temple. It sits 95 meters above the Indian Ocean.
It was built in the 16th century and is home to some nasty damn monkeys!

Not exactly sure what these two were up to????

Volcano Trip

01/10/06 Volcano Trip

Took a trip back up to the hills of Bali to check out theGunung Batur Volcano. On the way up we stopped and checked out some local art and a Balinese (Barong) dance. Which is a story about the eternal struggle between good and evil.

This is a Barong. A mythical creature that represents good.

Some rice terraces on the way to the volcano.

This guy was collecting reeds to make these cool hats.

This guy is my hero!! He is a plantation farmer. They grow all sorts of fruit and spices but most important..... COFFEE! He's roasting fresh coffee beans which I tasted and bought and have been consuming ever since.
Gunung Batur Volcano. I was hoping for some lava a chaos but it was a pretty nice view all the same. It last erupted in1926 I think. The Dutch evacuated the cities below so nobody was killed. But in 1917 thousands of people were killed! The only thing that wasn't destroyed was a temple.

Some Random Pics

Just a few more pics.....

These two statues I stumbled across on some of the many times I have been completely lost. They would both be about 30 metres high.

A scooter traffic jam in Kuta!

These kids were part of a Hare Krishna gathering!

Balinese Hindu Philosophy

A Quick Rundown on Balinese Hindu Philosophy!

Peace and liberty are obtainable in our lives only when we respect and observe the 3 harmonious relationships known as the Tri Hita Karana Doctrine!

1.
The Gods blessed life and created nature and contents.

2. Nature offers substanence, nourishment, needs and activities for human beings.

3. Human beings have an obligation to establish traditional village structure, to build temples in which to worship, to hold various cermonies, to make daily offerings, to preserve nature and to solve problems together.
Some locals making an offering in a temple. They give offerings to both the good and the evil spirits so niether gets jealous!

A small offering on the beach. To protect those who use the beach from harm.

The van I went to a volcano in. To make sure we were safe we had all sorts of offerings. Even a BBQ chicken on the dashboard!!!!
